I cannot get .docx or .ace files to download from the www.  So, if you want to edit them, download them as a .zip file and open in your computer.  Links to .docx and .ace are here for my internal downloads.

G3X (ACE) Checklist

Garmin has an editable checklist program (ACE) for the G3X and 695/696 units.  It does not have to be just a/c checklists, but almost any kind of note you might want at your finger tips can be placed on the checklist.  I'm unable to link this to a .ace file, so I had to put it in a .zip file.  Below is an idea of what I have in the ACE checklist:

It works with Windows XP version 2 and higher versions plus Vista and Windows 7.  You might get an error box when selecting HELP with windows 7.  To fix that, follow the instructions in the error box for downloading a small program from MS and all will be fine.

Go to: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5075 to download the editor.

Installation Instructions
  1. Download and run the self-extracting executable file and follow the on-screen prompts to install the ACE checklist editor.
  2. You can create your own from scratch or download mine and edit as desired.
  3. To use a checklist file with your Garmin cockpit display or portable GPS unit, save the .ace file to the root level of an SD card and insert it in the unit's card slot while the power is off.
  4. Turn the power on and wait for it to load (you won't see any change).
  5. Press the menu button twice and select "Checklists".  Leave the card in the Garmin.

Editing -- a couple tricks (the "+" marks in the left pane hide a lot of what you will want to get at)

bulletIt opens with a small icon with a yellow + mark -- click  there.  Edit the default "New Group" to a new checklist name (like "emergencies", or "engine start", etc.
bulletAfter pressing the Enter key, click the "+" mark next the the name you just made.
bulletYou can also click the next "+" to see "New Entry"
bulletDouble click "New Checklist" and name your sub-list.  If you had Emergencies on your first line the New Checklist might be "Engine Fire"
bulletThe "New Entry" are your steps to take.  The New Entry properties box has a drop-down for types of entries.  If you want spaces between lines you can enter a number in the next box.
bulletTo make a new entry, click the icon with the + and Checkmark.  That icon will open a new entry above where your cursor is at the time.
bulletYou can't drag and drop entries, but you can cut/copy and paste.  You can cut and paste entire checklists too.
bulletConfused?  Download mine and I think you will see it a lot better

Please let me know If you improve on this 01-2012 checklist so I can make the changes for others.
